FO confirms Afghan nationals' role in Zhob terror attack

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Afghan nationals participated in the "dastardly attack" on the Pakistan Army's Zhob Garrison in Northern Balochistan on July 13, the Foreign Officer confirmed on Wednesday.

FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, in a statement, confirmed that three of the terrorists killed in the attack on Pakistan Army soldiers were Afghan nationals.

The Kandahar area of Afghanistan is home to the terrorists, she continued.

Five terrorists were killed in the attack, while as many as nine troops chose to suffer a martyr's death. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had stated that a group of terrorists carried out a heinous attack on the garrison in the early hours of July 12. They added that the initial attempt to get into the facility was "checked by soldiers on duty."

Nine troops gave their lives in the line of duty while battling valiantly during the intense exchange of fire. Five terrorists were also murdered in the meanwhile.

The ISPR had said, "Security forces remain resolute to thwart all such ghastly attempts to destroy [the] peace of Balochistan and Pakistan."

The exploitation of Afghan land and the ongoing involvement of Afghan terrorists in terrorism within Pakistan were both sharply denounced by the FO and were cause for grave worry.

The FO also gave instructions for the bodies of terrorists who were killed to be sent to the Afghan embassy in Islamabad.
